- Now that the Fourth Street construction has stopped, Tonganoxie firefighters are looking forward to cleaning their trucks only once a week. “Once you cleaned them, 10 minutes later they were filled with dust,” Lt. Joe Peel said. “We washed them about three times a week.”

Two years ago, Tongie Road Properties LLC put up a 7,200-square-foot building in Tonganoxie’s Urban Hess Business Park. Now, TRP is about to finish an addition that adds another 3,600 square feet to their original building.

- For Jody Chenoweth, visiting the Arkansas Pondstocker truck was a new experience.
“I’m not sure if they even take smaller orders or if I have to order a hundred,” Chenoweth said. Chenoweth patiently waited in line with the other customers, but it wasn’t long before she found out that they would gladly fill her smaller order. The Arkansas Pondstockers have been making rounds at Vet-Vax in Tonganoxie for nine years, and also visits 11 other towns in the Kansas area.

- A big chunk of Tonganoxie real estate is on the market. Denny Spring, Eudora, has 32 townhomes for sale. The asking price for the 16 duplex buildings in Stone Creek subdivision is $4.576 million, said Mike Chumley, a Realtor in the Basehor Remax office.

- Whether she’s walking her dogs across a glacier stream or packing them in her car for another day on the highway, Shellie Hardisty is a world away from her home. Actually, she has no home. Four months ago, Hardisty sold her house and her belongings. About a month later she quit her job, and shortly after that, she loaded everything she needed for a trip in a pop-up camper.
