Probe continues into local woman’s death
No news is good news ... except in a murder investigation.
Thursday will mark two months since a 44-year-old Tonganoxie woman, Robin Bell, was found slain at the north Dollar General store in Bonner Springs. She was found Nov. 12, the victim of an apparent homicide.
Police have yet to make an arrest in the case or identify a suspect.
Bonner Springs police Lt. Rick Schubert has maintained that he believes the case can be solved and Bell's killer brought to justice. He reiterated that point on Monday.
"It's still an on-going investigation," Schubert said. "And, yes, I still think it can be solved."
A month after Bell's body was discovered, the Dollar General corporation added $10,000 to the reward money for information leading to an arrest.
The reward now totals $11,000 for viable information regarding the homicide.
Schubert said the additional reward money spurred new information in the case.
"Several leads generated as result from the reward," he said.
Bell's body was discovered in the back of the Dollar General Store about 3 a.m. Nov. 12. The store closed about seven hours earlier. Police were called to the store after Bell's husband, Don Bell of Tonganoxie, reported her missing.
