Letter to the editor: Your chance to be heard

On Jan. 15, you will be asked to approve or disapprove Charter Ordinance 17 adopted by the city of Tonganoxie.

This ordinance will allow two members of the council to meet privately to discuss business of the city. This is contrary to Kansas Open Meetings Law, which now applies.

In November, citizens circulated a petition and obtained more than a sufficient number of signatures requiring this issue be put to a vote on the people.

Now is your chance to be heard! Keep our city government open and accountable. Vote No on Jan. 15.
