Her busy hobby took up no space at all in her small quarters. It all fit in her "busy basket." She'd taken that basket with her. It had always sat beside her chair at home.

Sewing was a lifelong habit of her's. She now busies herself making very small yo-yos, sewing them together in diamond-shaped, color-coordinated blocks as she makes another bedspread. Her goal is to make one for each grandchild.

What is a yo-yo? These little circled puffs get their name, I suppose, because they resemble half of a child's yo-yo. To make one, cut a small circle, turn the raw edge up over itself just about an eighth of an inch all around itself. With a needle and thread, run a loose basting-like stitch around the turned edge and pull or gather that edge. Pull it up tight and it will close over itself, then just flatten it with your fingers. You have just made a yo-yo.

You also will see these used in all sorts of craft projects. You can center a button in its center, or make them without turning the raw edge under with the little fuzzy-like, raveled edges showing. As with lots of such creations, use your imagination and have fun.
