Looking back before graduation
Senior Salute
May 14, 2008
This is my final week of high school. Amazing — I have spent roughly 2,160 days of my life completing a K-12 education, but as I come down to these last few days I find myself reminiscing. I didn’t attend kindergarten in Tonganoxie, but joined the class of 2008 in first grade.

Hail to the Chieftains. The Tonganoxie High School forensics squad brought home a Class 4A state title May 3 from Washburn Rural High School in Topeka.
It’s time to think spring, think safety
May 7, 2008
Finally, spring has sprung. We had to weather a pretty bad storm Thursday night and into Friday morning, but it appears as though the more favorable temperatures are becoming more of a mainstay.
Don’t take food source for granted
April 30, 2008
A recent Journal-World editorial had this to say about the state of wheat: U.S. Agriculture Secretary Edward Schafer had some good news and some bad news for wheat farmers when he addressed a group of food aid groups meeting in Kansas City earlier this month.

Dear humans, Thanks for thinking of me yesterday.
Remember history during future growth
April 9, 2008
It’s tough to know what the future holds for us in Tonganoxie. Development of Village West and the surrounding area in Wyandotte County continues. Plans for a renovated County Road 1 linking U.S. Highway 24-40 to a turnpike interchange in Leavenworth County move forward.
Tourney about more than just basketball
April 9, 2008
What an NCAA Tournament. What a celebration on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence after Kansas University, on Monday, won its third NCAA title with an improbable overtime win. Throughout the tournament, there also was a handful of great upsets and Cinderella stories.
Save a life, donate blood at local drives
April 2, 2008
'Tis the season for living. That’s right, living. It’s also a time of giving, as in giving blood at upcoming drives.
Time for cold weather to say goodbye
April 2, 2008
Spring “officially started” March 20. Although there have been a few nice weather days since then, it’s not the wonderful “just right” spring temperatures I’m ready for.

Mother Nature apparently wasn’t feeling the luck o’ the Irish on Saturday.
Our view: Time to ‘go green’ with paint job
March 12, 2008
The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow nearly is in our sights.
Our View: Time for leadership on CR1 funding
February 20, 2008
It’s unfortunate the city of Tonganoxie and Leavenworth County officials are acting more like grade-schoolers than community leaders when it comes to figuring out a way to become partners in improving County Road 1.
In other’s view: Fact-based action
February 13, 2008
Kansas legislators serve their constituents best when they sort through the facts and put partisanship aside.
