Services for Ellen M. James, 85, of La Mirada, Calif., were held April 11 in Downey, Calif.
Mrs. James died April 7, 2008, as a result of cardiopulmonary arrest and complications from cancer.
She was born June 15, 1922, to Jesse D. Shoemaker and Ora Shoemaker in Overbrook and attended Tonganoxie High School before marrying Wavy Lee James in 1941.
Mrs. James was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend to many.
She was preceded in death by brothers Glenn James, Kansas City, Kan., Lester James and Bud James, both of Tonganoxie, and sisters Alma James and Hazel James.
Survivors include: daughters Rose Ellen, Wilma and Jo Ann; son Jay; 13 grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mrs. James was buried at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, Calif.
