Services will be 10 a.m. today, Wednesday, June 18, for Ruth Vera Robbins, 84, of Tonganoxie, at West Haven Baptist Church, Tonganoxie. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, Kan.
Mrs. Robbins died Saturday, June 14, 2008, at Tonganoxie Nursing Center.
Robbins was born Oct. 12, 1923, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of William McKinley and Mary Ellen (Campbell) Shingleton. She was a charter member of West Haven Baptist Church, a volunteer at Good Shepherd Thrift Shop and belonged to Rinda Chapter No. 82, Order of the Eastern Star, all of Tonganoxie.
She married Ralph H. Robbins on Jan. 18, 1941, and assisted in the operation of the family-owned business, Midwest Carpet Co. for many years. She loved crocheting, embroidering and gardening.
Mrs. Robbins is survived by her husband, Ralph, of the home; two sons, David, Tonganoxie, and Phillip (Finney), Lawrence; three daughters, Mary Boudreaux, Tonganoxie, Linda Owen, Oskaloosa, and Melanie Chapman, Tonganoxie; brother, Keith Shingleton, Gladstone, Mo.; 14 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
