Taking cover behind trees as bombs explode in the trunk of a car at the Sunset Motel one afternoon last week, Jeff Owens, closest to the tree on the right, sees his hard work go up in smoke. Owens, who works in Merriam, was in charge of special effects for the bombing of the car. The explosion went off according to plan.
