Sara Shockey jumps her horse, Fritz, during a recent practice session at Shamrock Farms near Leavenworth. Shockey, a Tonganoxie High School sophomore, won numerous awards at the 2005 American Royal. She plans to continue her work throughout this year.
Seth VanNostrand flashes a grin during lunchtime at McLouth Elementary School. The 6-year-old boy suffers from a rare genetic disease known as Hunter Syndrome.
