Christmas open house December 12, 2007
Stage manager for the event, Bob Topping, welcomes guests to the second annual Leavenworth County Christmas Open House on Friday at the County Courthouse.
Members of the Smith Ladies Aid quilting circle, played by Aileen Seeman, Anna Mary Landauer, Rachel Kelly and Laura Elkins, discuss life on the home front during the World War II era and gossip about local events at the time in Leavenworth.
Carolyn Burton portrays Cathay Williams, the only documented female Buffalo Soldier in the American Civil War. Burton complained of a hip injury that would send her to the Army infirmary and would reveal her true gender.
